About

The bridge behind the logo.

Our logo is the Ashtabula Lift Bridge in Ashtabula, Ohio, the bridge I grew up with. It stands for how we work: built well, kept up, and still working decades later.

The bridge

The Ashtabula Lift Bridge.

Since 1925 the lift bridge has carried traffic across the Ashtabula River in Ashtabula Harbor, and raised its roadway to let boats through. It replaced an earlier swing bridge, and turned 100 in 2025.

It's a Strauss bascule bridge. The roadway pivots on a trunnion at its heel while a counterweight swings down on a trunnion of its own, and a link ties the two together. Heavy steel, balanced so well that it lifts smoothly every time.

Why it's our logo

What the bridge stands for.

  1. Balance, not brute force

The counterweight and link do the hard work, so a heavy roadway lifts with ease. Good engineering behind a website works the same way: you see the simple part.

  2. It opens the way

The bridge goes up so everyone on the water can get where they're going. A website should do that for your customers.

  3. Still working at 100

A century of service comes from solid work and steady upkeep. We build sites to be maintained, not replaced.

  4. The color of real work

Rust is what steel looks like after it has carried the load. It's a color we wear with pride.

From the founder

A Rust Belt standard.

I grew up in Ashtabula, Ohio, home of the lift bridge in our logo. Rust Belt towns know the value of things that are built well, kept up, and still working decades later. That's the standard I set for Rustbelt Web Development, and the one our whole team works to.
